Amanda Marshall Account Project Coordinator |

This is my first job since graduating from N.C. State and I couldn't ask for a better environment. The teamwork and the potential for learning here are just great. My friends in other places tell me that they spend their days mostly twiddling their thumbs because their jobs are so narrowly defined. That's certainly not the case here! My main responsibility is to keep projects on track and support the relationship managers. That can mean editing, pulling information together, making calls, doing research – there's always plenty to do and the days go fast.
Kathryn and Beth and I were asked to make a presentation to a major client about how to market to our generation. Marketing to Gen Y is really different, and includes things like social networking. I used to think that in work situations people were valued according to how much experience they had. But the people here seek out my opinion. It means a lot to me to be valued this way.
Art asked me to analyze the website the agency was developing for Scan-Optics. At first I thought, "How am I going to do this?" I didn't know anything about this client, or their industry. He explained that he wanted me to look at it with fresh eyes, as a user would see the site.
What I had to work with was a rough draft of a complicated site. I had to look carefully at the navigation, make sure all the links worked, and find the inconsistencies and gaps in the content. Then I had to present my findings in a form that other people could easily understand and use, choosing the appropriate screen shots and so forth. There was also real time pressure on this project.

I wound up with a 30 or 40 page document that became the basis for the work that the designer, writer and programmer did to develop the site. I liked this project because it used my abilities to be systematic and organized. I especially liked this work because I knew I was contributing to Scan-Optics' primary marketing tool, the clear, user-friendly site that they had asked for when they became a client of The Bloom Agency.
